Yesterday I witnessed Benjamin Clementine perform in Paradiso. Even though my expectations were very high - having played his songs over and over - I was blown away by his presence and performance. I have never seen anything like it.
Last week I saw Mommy in cinema, a Canadian movie by Xavier Dolan. It is very powerful.
Both Benjamin Clementine's performance and the movie Mommy hold an enormous amount of sadness and darkness. Yet there is hope, beauty and humour in both of them. What I felt most of all in both of these cases was force; a strong, emotional force coming from the artists to the viewer. I now feel stronger and more ready for life after witnessing these great artistic achievements. Thank you.
